About Us

The Moon & Star design was originally known as “The Palace” that was produced from 1894 to 1905. First by the Adams Glass Company of Pittsburgh, PA and later by the United States Glass Company that acquired the old Pittsburgh firm.

In the 1960’s more than a dozen of the original items were reproduced by J.D and Joseph J. Weishar, in conjunction with the L. E. Smith Glass Company. The Moon & Star design was then incorporated into approximately 100 plus, new shapes and sizes which were sold nation- wide for several years. In 1989 Weishar Enterprises introduced the half scale mini water sets. We worked with the L. E. Smith Glass Company of Mt. Pleasant, PA and the Pioneer Glass Company from Bellaire, Ohio.

In 1993 we introduced the Moon & Star Collectible Line, (which is full size). They are handmade in the USA from the original moulds, which have been altered slightly to include the Weishar signature. The signature is that of the late Joseph J. Weishar, the creator of the majority of the Moon & Star glass you have come to love and cherish over the years.

In the late 1990’s the Moon & Star glassware had become the hottest and most sought after collectable of the times. Some pieces sold in the thousand dollar range.

In the Mid 1990’s Weishar Enterprises purchased all the Moon & Star moulds at the L. G. Wright Glass Companies’ auction, for the exception of the Decanter, Stopper and 2 oz. Wine glass moulds. Then later in 2016 Weishar Enterprises purchased the Decanter, Stopper and 2 oz. Wine Glass moulds from the Fenton Art Glass Company when they ceased production.

The following list is a few of the Moon & Star items Weishar Enterprises has created: Mini Water Set, Mini Cream and Sugar set, Mini Nappy, 10” Dinner plate, 10” Tid-Bit Tray, Owl Ring Tree, Breakfast set, 8” Tid-Bit Tray, 16 oz. Handled Mug, large Swung Vases, Gravy Boat, 3” and 6” Candle Lamps, plus the Medical Marijuana Smoke Set and the 3 1⁄4” Mini Courting Lamp.

We also had the honor of being on the show “How It’s Made.” This show is when the 6” Candle Lamp Moulds were made. We were also on a special taping, about West Virginia historic companies for Public Broadcasting Service.

Desired quantities of Mini Water Sets were less than 2500, and desired quantities of the Moon & Star Collectible Line were 500 to 1000.

We also continue to make more than 20 different items for the Amish Community across the country in nine different colors.
